Plastic surgery has its own board. A general surgery certificate is not a plastic surgery certificate, and the difference is worth confirming before an elective operation.
Certification is national, so this same board certifies the specialty in every city below. What CONACEM certification means.
The credential is the same everywhere. What changes is how you get there and back.

Plastic surgery has its own board. A general surgery certificate is not a plastic surgery certificate, and the difference is worth confirming before an elective operation. Certification is a legal requirement under the General Health Law, articles 81 and 272 Bis, it runs five years, and the directory is public. Ask for the certificate number and the expiry date, then look both up.
For the credential, no: certification is national, so the same board certifies the same specialty everywhere in Mexico. For the trip, yes. A border city means a follow-up is a drive; a fly-in city means another flight. That difference usually matters more than the price.
Drains, compression garments and restricted activity for weeks. Recovery time in the area is longer than most patients plan for.
