Clinics advertise "from" prices, so the bottom of the Tijuana range is a starting figure for a straightforward case, not an average. Budget nearer the middle, and treat anything below the range as a reason to ask what has been left out.

What to get in the written quote
Ask for each of these as a separate line, not a single bundled figure:
- Pre-operative work-up: blood work, imaging, and any cardiac clearance
- The surgeon's fee, stated separately from the facility fee
- Anaesthesia, and whether an anaesthesiologist is present throughout
- The facility or hospital fee, and how many nights it covers
- Any implant or device, with the manufacturer and model named
- Medication and supplies you take home
- Follow-up visits, and which ones require you to be there in person
- What happens, and who pays, if there's a complication or a revision
- What happens if you need to stay longer than planned
- Which payment methods the clinic takes, and in which currency. Cards, US dollars and bank transfers are usual; a growing number of clinics also accept crypto, which avoids a wire fee and an exchange spread on a large payment. Ask before you travel rather than at the desk.
Naming the material matters. Two quotes for the same procedure can differ by half because one includes the facility and anaesthesia and the other doesn't. If a quote won't name the brand, that's your answer.

Why is rhinoplasty so much cheaper in Tijuana?
Lower overheads, lower wages, lower malpractice insurance and no US insurance billing layer. It isn't a different procedure and it isn't necessarily different materials, but materials are exactly the thing to ask about, because that's where a cheap quote usually gets cheap.
What isn't in the quoted price?
Commonly excluded: pre-operative work-up and imaging, the anaesthesiologist, the facility fee, any device or implant, take-home medication, and extra nights if recovery runs long. Travel and accommodation are on top. Ask for a written quote that lists inclusions and exclusions line by line.
Do the travel costs cancel out the saving?
That depends on how far you're coming and how many trips the treatment needs. For someone driving down from San Diego it's a rounding error.
